Wood comes in several grades so it’s important to actually see what you’re buying. Spending a day looking at the different wood items like wood trim and windows will also give you a few ideas also. There are also a few wood shops inside the infamous weekend market near Bang sue.
Power tools and things like sandpaper and drill bits, electrical wire, bulbs, and lights can be bought in an area called Klong Tom. This can be found in Bangkok’s China town area known as Yarrowat. You can really save if you have something heavy to ship like granite, sandstone or tile. Medium size shipments you can use freight shipping companies which also use busses and some big lorry trucks to ship the goods overnight to Phuket. You can even pack the goods in the bus yourself and ride down with them you have time. Being creative In Thailand you too can save a lot of money if you have time and take the time to shop around and buy the items you handpicked to make your

Boat Trip On Tonle Sap

Boat Trip On Tonle Sap

by Naveen Marasinghe
A boat trip on Tonle Sap ( Boeung Tonle Sap), the largest fresh water lake of Cambodia , is a great experience. The areas is a floating village, with floating houses, schools and pigs and vegetable patches on their own little rafts. Many children can also be seen paddling. A cruise takes tourists past several floating villages made up of charming houseboats, gas stations, schools, police stations and even karaoke clubs. Some of the notable objects are the towering stilted houses and the fish traps. The boat ride is leisurely, helping the tourists relax and enjoy the scene.
The lake is visited by millions of migrating birds especially during the period December to March, making it a haven for birdlife and a heaven for bird lovers. There are over two hundred species of birds, including several threatened and endangered ones. There are crocodiles, turtles, otters and other wildlife as well.

Chong Khneas is the floating village at the edge of the lake and most accessible to Siem Reap. Boats and boat tours are available here round the clock. A two hour boat trip may cost around $6 and each boat may carry up to fifteen passengers. The boatman often acts as a guide and points out interesting spots on the lake. There are two stops on the way- a fish and bird exhibition with a souvenir and snack shop, and the other is a Gecko Environment Center, which displays information about the lake area. The H2O Boat offers cruises on a comfortable, fully stocked ‘lounge boat.’
Usually, the lake is 3000 square kilometers in size, but the melting ice from the Himalayas sometimes doubles the size of the lake and during other times it may shrink. It is a dumbbell shaped body of water, stretching across the northwest section of the country. A boat trip on Tonle Sap could be the ideal relaxing and leisurely getaway activity.
Tonle Sap is easily accessible from Siem Reap, where there are many accommodation facilities available. Staying at a
luxury hotel in Siem Reap will make any stay in the city worthwhile and truly memorable. To get the best deals, and luxury comfort and convenience, a Siem Reap hotel in the central city is considered an ideal recommendation.

Vienna is alive with the sound of festivals!

by Paul McIndoe

There is never a bad time to visit Vienna, with festivals being held in almost every month of the year. To start off the year, there is the ball season - a programme of ballroom dancing festivals where everyone can try the Viennese Waltz. If dancing on ice is more to your liking, the Wiener Eistraum festival sees Vienna City Hall's plaza converted into a huge ice skating rink. There is plenty of food available to keep you going in between your laps, and the mix of classic tunes and latest pop in front of the magnificent City Hall will keep you entertained for hours. As the weather starts to heat up, so do the festivals. Summerstage is a 5 month long festival celebrating the best of the Viennese summer. There are free concerts, sporting events, an open air sculpture park and food markets. There is always something to do in almost every corner of the city and you can easily fit in a concert or two between visiting the Hofburg Palace and other famous Viennese sights. A festival not to be missed is the Donauinselfest in June. The festival takes place on Danube Island and attracts over 3 million visitors; featuring more than 19 stages with huge international music acts as well as Vienna's local talent. It is a perfect festival for Vienna as it is, after all, considered to be the birthplace of music. Mozart wrote many of his famous operas whilst living and working in Vienna and you can experience some of Vienna's new music generation at the Lange Nacht der Musik festival in June. This festival features musicians from all over Austria who play at over 60 locations throughout the city in one night. Another summer delight is the Film Festival am Rathausplatz where the City Hall's plaza is once again transformed. This time a huge open air cinema screen is erected and a different film screened every night. As such, it's a great way to relax after a long day of sightseeing in the heart of this beautiful city. Autumn is a busy time for festivals in Vienna, with the world-famous Viennale Film Festival and the Rund um die Burg. The Viennale is a film festival with a difference - aiming to defy mainstream cinema by showcasing bold film-making and a wide selection of art house international films. The Rund um die Burg is a literary festival where many Austrian writers descend on the city to take turns reading from their works for 24 hours straight. Even if you can't speak German, it is an interesting event to witness. Winter brings snow, ice and Christmas markets. Christkindlmärkte are small huts that pop up across the whole city to sell Christmas gifts. As you browse around, why not try Glühwein - a traditional warm spiced wine. If you'd like to know more about any of the festivals, any of the
hotels in Vienna should be able to provide you with information. Experiencing Vienna's festivals is a great way to immerse yourself in the heart and soul of this impressive city.

What to expect from Thailand hotels

What to expect from Thailand hotels

by Sivakorn Siricharoensataporn

Looking for a relaxing yet adventure-filled vacation? Even before the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer, The Beach, brought controversy - and media mileage to this mystical yet modern country in the east, Thailand has long been a favorite among tourists - especially backpackers who want to experience a holiday to remember.
For first-timers in Thailand, it is highly recommended to stay in the country's capital, Bangkok for at least three days. In spite of the many high-rise buildings and posh malls, Bangkok has certainly not lost its Eastern charm as you are reminded of the Thais rich culture every place you go - through the many temples, the delectable food, and the people's warm hospitality. It is also good to note that holidaying in Thailand - no matter which Thai city you choose to stay in, is actually very cheap.
So let's start with the basics of planning the ultimate Thailand holiday. First things first, you will need to find a clean, reputable - and affordable Thailand hotel. If you're a first timer at this country, you will be surprised by how many Thailand hotels there are. From the super posh to the dirt cheap hotels frequented by backpackers, there certainly are a lot of choices when it comes to a suitable Thailand hotel for all your needs and preferences.
For those who want budget-friendly Thailand hotels that are right smack in the center of Bangkok city, the Pratunam or the Pathumwan area is the place to go. A lot of vacationing families and Asian tourists abound in this area so expect everything to be very touristy. The good thing about the Thailand hotels available in this area though is that majority of the major shopping destinations are easily within reach here. Some of the must-sees are: the popular MBK mall, the uber posh Siam Paragon and the trendy Platinum mall, which is just a few steps away from the very crowded, Pratunam market. The Platinum mall and the Pratunam market are both highly recommended by those who frequent Bangkok, you can get trendy and fashionable items for a much cheaper price compared to tourist traps like the Suan Lum Market. Just don't forget to haggle and if you can, buy in bulk.
But back to the hotels, if you have a budget for just a 3-star hotel, expect most of Thailand hotels under this category to be fairly decent. Usually with outdated furnishings and fairly clean rooms, 3-star Thailand hotels are still able to make up for these through the great prices that they are offering as well as for the free hotel breakfast for each day of your stay. So load up on the yummy treats that will be on offer and you will surely be able to save a bit since you won't be go around Thailand on an empty stomach.
Of course, as an added service - and a great way to earn extra, Thailand hotels also offer great sightseeing tours for their guests. If you're not that stingy, you will find the prices for these tours to be fairly decent. Expect these tour packages to include a visit to the Grand Palace; the nearby Wat Pho where you will find the world famous, Temple of Reclining Buddha; a tour of the Floating Market where you can sample cheap and yummy Thai delicacies; and a chance to ride an elephant at the nature trek.
Other things that are pretty common services and facilities with Thailand hotels are a decent internet connection - usually available at the hotel lobby, a laundry service, and hotel pick up service. If you are interested to find out more about places to stay whether in Bangkok or other cities in Thailand, just check out the Internet for more.
